“The Lord is great!
January 2019 |
Let all those who seek you be joyful and glad because of what you have done. Let those who count on you to save them always say “The Lord is great!” Psalm 40:16 (NIrV)It’s New Year’s Day, a time to look back over the past year with thanks to God for His constant presence and kindness through those times when we’ve been riding along, so to speak, on the crest of a wave but also through those darker days and nights of uncertainty, change and loss. Not only has God supplied our personal needs but He has also, through Count Everyone In, lovingly and graciously touched the lives of individuals and families with additional needs. Yes, we can be joyful and glad. We count on God to save us and we can say with assurance that the Lord is great! “Count Everyone In is great for our family as we seek to find ways to allow Phoebe to understand and hear about Jesus. More than that, by making every effort to connect with Phoebe’s level of understanding, it is allowing her to respond to the good news. The welcome, the worship and the pure joy is also something that it is such a privilege to be a part of.” Sarah, Andrew and Phoebe Newton, Keswick Convention 2018 “The highlight has been the week after half term in June when, with our daughter and other people with learning disability, we share a marvellous week of fun, friendship and learning more about God’s plan for our lives. CEI have been brilliant in showing ways in which a disability is no barrier to worship and in supporting churches and families to make the gospel more accessible to all. We have already booked for 2019 and are looking forward to it.” Tony, Chris & Debbie Holcombe, Spring Harvest Holidays 2018 “I feel closer to Jesus.” Anonymous, Spring Harvest Holidays 2018 “After attending Word Alive in 2017 we were challenged to start a Life group for our folk with special needs. They have slowly blossomed and grown spiritually ….. Thank you for inspiring us to not just love them (which we did) but to disciple them. The whole church has been encouraged by their progress. Ruth Bedford, Word Alive 2018 We hope you will be encouraged by those comments to continue supporting us, in prayer and by financial support, so that in the coming year more churches will catch the vision to ‘count everyone in’ and even more people can experience God’s love. Accessible Bibles Have you seen, or are you using, the New International Readers Version (NIrV) – accessible edition? Biblica Europe, the publishers, have never seen Bibles fly off the shelves at such speed as this special edition New Testament, so much so that stocks ran out during the autumn! The reprint is due any day now and, in addition to the softback edition at £7.99, there is to be a more durable hardback option at £9.99 and Mark’s Gospel at £2.00. Pre-orders are open at http://ow.ly/N4b750jXVZd. Don’t forget, if you would like CEI to receive £1.00 per copy (up to 9), please insert PW in the discount box. Thank you. If you are looking for the whole Bible in the NIrV it is available in smaller print either from Christian bookshops or online; this is not the accessible edition. Training The first Know and Grow basic training day of 2019 is on Saturday 19 January at All Saints Church, Crowborough in East Sussex. Spaces are still available but please be quick! Our friend Janneke will be joining us on this occasion to share from her vast experience and we are especially delighted that she will be covering the section on Makaton signing. If your church would like to host a Know & Grow part one or two training day in 2019 (or beyond) please get in touch and we shall be happy to discuss your requirements. Here’s what one delegate said: “I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the K&G course, very informative, scripturally sound and full of learning and laughs. I feel better equipped to continue our mission to roll out accessible teaching now than I did this time last week! Thank you both.” Prayer points So much to thank God for – the Lord is great! We finally received consent to change our garage into an office/multi-purpose room and work is due to commence at the end of January – please pray that all goes to planPray for a successful and speedy outcome as our CIO (charity) application is scrutinised by the Charity CommissionPray for Count Everyone In trustees Tim (chair), Dorothy, Jonathan, Keith, Rick and Val as they take up their new rolesPray that we shall be guided by the Holy Spirit in our discussions with festival organisers, devising CEI programmes and writing teaching etc that are in line with God’s will and what He knows will be good for everyonePray that the right people will be willing and available to serve where they are needed, volunteering their time, energy, gifts and experience with us on festival teams.
